                This is a growing archive of the work developed at Syracuse University School of Architecture in Florence as part of the Borgo Digitale research group. Divided in three seasons, it is the outcome of an ongoing, collaborative series between visiting students, resident instructors and guest speakers. Each Season engages with a specific aspect of the Italian territory, developing novel readings of what it means to study-abroad in Italy in the 21st century                                                  

2020-2021

SEASON 1 - IL BORGO

____The first season of the program focused on the relationship between Countryside and Urban environments - highlighting the distributed network of the Italian Borgo as a fertile site of intervention to renegotiate historical identities and global values_________

SEASON 2 - LE BONIFICHE

2021-2022

___________________________In its second season the research will turn to the territorial as well as the ideological space of the ‘bonifiche’ where patterns of territorial reclamation will be confronted with the parallel fascist ideologies that radically reconfigured the cultural landscape of the 20th Century__________________________

SPRING 2022 - MOVING TO GROSSETO

SEASON 3 - LE ISOLE

2022-2023

________In its third and final season the program will confront the figures of Italian Islands with their contested histories of multi-cultural heritages, internal colonialism as well as contemporary migrations. The ideological possibility (or impossibility) of an island to think through Abroad Study pedagogies_______________________________
