STUDIO Z

Situated just outside Grosseto, Italy in the reclaimed lands of Maremma, “Projected Production” attempts to guide the tourist's view through the practices of agricultural production in an area where a future of agrotourism must be cultivated in enclosed environments. Given the studio prompt focuses heavily on “picturesque Italy,” and how one acts in touristic ways on a site, the project allows for a critical view of how these practices are conducted specifically through vertical farming facilities and a seed bank archive and public activities for the area.

As a formal exploration of the buildings on site, the project takes the Ponte Tura - the only existing building - and multiplication, abstracts and “stamps” its form across the landscape, in an excessive manner. These renders highlight the visual and functional relationships between buildings.

This reverberation is evident through the various forms remnant of the original node, leaving gashes or impressions on the landscape. The progression of these stamps exceeds the page and becomes purely mechanical, an homage to the original purpose of the Ponte Tura.
